Inventory Asset Account Negative

Data damage and file repair

A negative Inventory Asset balance means QuickBooks is valuing your stock at less than nothing, usually because items were sold or adjusted before any were recorded as received. You will notice it on the balance sheet, and it often travels with negative on-hand quantities in the Inventory Valuation Detail report. Left alone it distorts cost of goods sold and can trip the Verify utility. Backdated transactions are the usual culprit, and correcting the pattern by hand rarely ends well.
