When you run Verify Data from the File menu in QuickBooks, the utility sometimes asks for a superuser password before it will start. This happens because verification needs full admin-level access to check the file's internal structure, including tables a regular user cannot touch. If you do not have that password, the check cannot run, and any hidden damage stays hidden.
